I have been playing with a new Triquint ULNA device (TQP3M9036). It
Shows a lot of promise. It is like a MAR or MSA device in that it is
50ohm in and out. and has a claimed NF about .4db nf ( their numbers).
I have built several pramps to test them and have gotten even better
than they claim and they cover 50-1296 with ease and NF is .4ish or
below. The S11 and S22 are both great and the OIP3 is +35db also
...very nice device. It has great promise as a good terrestrial LNA.
Preamps are foolproof to build and would cost under $50 if all the best
quality parts are used.

Hi all,
I’m ready on 6cm with the same dish I’m using on 3cm.
Despite the strong local 5 GHz WiFi noise, had a nice 579/569 first QSO with this setup today with HB9Q, thank you Dan !
Setup is a 3.7m dish and 60W at CP feeder.
I can be QRV on 6cm or 3cm most of the days, skeds and tests are very welcome, as usual.

Hello all,
After many years of threatening to get on moonbounce I am getting close
to having all the parts together. I am putting together a 2x2 array of M2
2M9SSB antennas. I would like to have any suggestions from anyone that has
put together a similar array. Is it necessary or desirable to use
fiberglass for the "H" frame? What is the best method of routing and
supporting the feedline to the antennas? What type of feedline should be
used from the power divider to the antennas? Please share your experience
with me.
Also I am looking for a modestly priced power amplifier. Any
suggestions for an amp or do you have one that you no longer use that you
might offer for sale? All input is greatly appreciated and will get me on
the moon that much sooner. Thanks.

I need reasonably low cost bias-t to insert and extract 12 vdc at 500 ma
max for my RFDesign lo-noise preamp mounted at the septum feed. I have seen
EBay listings by ziblook that are under $50. Any one have any suggestions.

I have a SPID BIG RAS/HR motor which seems to have died for some reason. It was working fine one minute, then seems to have done open circuit. There was no stress on it. If was running on about 20v, with a 50% PWM supply and drawing a few hundred mA. Very little load on the motor.
I know it's the motor and not any connectors or switched (it's the EL motor which has limit switches in the power lines), because I cut the wire close to the motor and measured things there.
Two questions.
First, has anyone been able to "fix" these (or similar) SPID motors? I can't believe the motor winding failed since the motor was not under any kind of stress. I don't know how they are constructed (and there's no SPID information on that), but if there are brushes in there it's possible they have failed. I have not yet pulled the motor (not a very easy job) and stripped off the "waterproof" cover to see what visible under it.
Second, if repair is not possible, does anyone have one they would sell? I know I can get a new one from Europe (RfHanDesign), but if I can find a used one here in the US, that would be easier.
Thanks in advance for any information or comments,
Bob, KA1GT
Hi All
We finished our 3400 MHz activity with 13 initials. Most stations were worked in Q65-60C, 5 stations in CW, for a total of 18 QSOs.
Our 5.7 GHz station is tested (sun-noise 7 dB) and ready for our activity coming moon-path.
Our activity on 6 cm is as follows:
We will be QRV on our moon-rise only for about 1h (depending on activity) and then we QRX until 03.00z. Here the details:
30. September: 22.30z until 23.30z on 5760.100 Q65D SV5/HB9COG 1st CFOM and
1. October: 03.00z until 11.00z on 5760.100 Q65D SV5/HB9COG 1st CFOM
For more information go to https://hb9q.ch/2018/?page_id=2311 there you always find the latest information and all details of the DXpedition.

Hi Bob,
Thankfully the solution to the motor showing as O/C is easily fixed.
The stator contacts get gunked up over time until ultimately they
stick open circuit.
There is a small hole at the back of the motor, the right size for
the plastic straw that comes with WD40. Squirt WD40 in there
repeatedly. Saturate it. Apply 24V DC, not the pulsed supply from the
controller, and see if it's cleared.
This happened to me a few of years ago. This remedy, supplied by
Frank at RFHam design fixed it straight away. No need to remove the
drive from the tower thank God. It hasn't returned because I repeat
this every year to keep it clean.
One point to add. Mine had the hole in the casing. Frank mentioned
that there are some that don't have the hole. If that's the case youll
have to drill a hole yourself.
Good luck,

Hello Moonbouncing DXers!
It is hard to believe, but in less than 2 weeks I hope to be QRV from the Austral
Islands! I have gotten my booster Covid shot, so I am ready to head down there even
though they currently are having quite a difficult time with the Covid Delta Variant.
All the special paperwork has been done, and all that remains is that I pass a Covid
test before boarding the plane here in Montana, and I pass another Covid test when I
arrive in French Polynesia. I am trying to stay as isolated as I can until I get on
the plane!
As I already explained on my web site, I am planning to use Q65-60A for the 6m EME
operations. Getting callers to spread out with Q65 could result in some confusion, so
I have prepared an explanation of how to spread out effectively using Q65-60A. I hope
that you will take the time to review this information and find it helpful:
http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/Q65%20Offset%20Guide.pdf
The planned operating schedules are shown on the DXpedition web pages. The only
possible change I see at this point is that I MAY have to dismantle the station a day
early at each DXCC, depending on the deadline for getting my excess baggage delivered
to that airport for air freight...but I will know more about that after I arrive on
each island. I have already paid for and booked all my excess baggage as air freight
on the flights TO Rimatara and Hiva Oa, and there will be adequate time to meet the
deadlines for those trips. It is just the flights FROM Rimatara and Hiva Oa that may
require the air freight to be delivered the day before the flight to ensure it gets
on the plane.
I will provide further updates as things proceed. In the meantime, thanks for all of
your support and effort, and I am looking forward to putting a record number of
stations in the log from both DXCC!
