I have been playing with a new Triquint ULNA device (TQP3M9036). It
Shows a lot of promise. It is like a MAR or MSA device in that it is
50ohm in and out. and has a claimed NF about .4db nf ( their numbers).
I have built several pramps to test them and have gotten even better
than they claim and they cover 50-1296 with ease and NF is .4ish or
below. The S11 and S22 are both great and the OIP3 is +35db also
...very nice device. It has great promise as a good terrestrial LNA.
Preamps are foolproof to build and would cost under $50 if all the best
quality parts are used.

Hi All.
I was searching the internet for information when I ran across this
discussion on Moon-net from 2 decades ago.
There are a few things about it that might be of interest.
1) Now that we have modern digital modes, certainly that lower limit is
even lower.
2) The discussion moved on to a discussion about EME QSB.
SM5BSZ has said that he does not experience a significant amount of QSB
while OZ1RH concludes that much of the QSB the rest of us experience may be
due to tropo. I think this makes sense since as far North as Leif is, he
would likely experience little tropo while the rest of us down South of him
see it frequently.
On the EME logger even among many Xpol stations we observe that one station
or another may be locked out from the rest of the world. For me, this
happened early Saturday night (ARRL EME) I was nearly locked out for
several hours, then later the band seemed to return to normal. The
difference seemed to be about 6 to 10db. I attracted little attention to my
CQs when I was locked out in spite of my best efforts to TX the correct
polarity. Stations that would normally be -12db would be more like -22db
then later they became closer to -12db. I must also say that as the
evening progressed, neighbors started turning off some of their RFI
generators so I saw about a 2db improvement in the noise floor (5 to 6db vs
3 to 4db). At the same time, I was having better luck getting answers to my
CQs later. I think a lot of 2 meter EME stations suffer with noise and do
not have adaptive polarity RX, so in these multiple hours long QSB fades, I
am heard less.
This is from the EA6VQ web site. I have not heard him on in a while.
https://www.dxmaps.com/discuss/lowerlimit.html
I know there are other possibilities for sources of QSB such as Libration,
Ionosphere, noise variations and even polarity which gets most of the blame
until the station upgrades to Xpol.

Hello friends,
For my 10 GHz TWT type W3MC12D, manufactured by STC, I’m looking for:
the data sheet or instruction manual of the TWT, including the pinout of its connector and the voltage ratings of each pin, and
the DC power supply, type PW35A (as indicated in a STC catalogue of the eighties)
I know very well that the 2nd item is harder, therefore the 1st one is the most important, for the scopes of checking the correct operation of the power supply or building a power supply…
Every help is very appreciated!
I wish you a better 2022, full of satisfactions and serenity.

Influence of small hardware on the quality of the RX? We all worry about improving our equipment, improving the gain of our array, the NF of our preamps ...
But I wonder about the importance that other details may have in the quality of our reception, for example our sound card, usb cables, possible usb noise filters, etc.I would like to read your comments and experiences.
I just received the SIGP-2 noise blanker from Mike W9IP.If some else is on the list next please let me know and I will send it when I'm done with it.With the current heavy rains here and the holidays it will be a few days before I get to it.If no one is on the list I will contact Les W2LPL and see if he want me to send it to him.Thank you all for this great sharing of this hard to get unit.

Hi Wolf,
Your situation is normal because the VSP cannot be share. I never be able
to share it with diferents softwares. If you want to use WSJT-X you have to
stop Icom remote Control.
An other way is to use Win4Icom software. It can emulate 6 VSP atvthe same
Time. Win4Icom is a very good software that I recommand.

Wolf,
When running a remote station the manufacturer's documentation or software
is often not what is required!
I have only tested an Icom rig once as a remote possibility and rejected it
as 'awkward'!
I have run Kenwood, Electraft and occasionally Yaesu rigs remotely. My EME
station is always remote - there is no way of operating it at the actual
station without plugging a client into the LAN!
I have found that the only real way to get lots of pieces of different
software to work properly is to install a proper Virtual Serial Port
software client and use that in preference to 'bespoke' options.
I have been using Eterlogic's VPSE for over 10 years on my remote EME
station(Win XP, 7 and 10) that can have as many instances of WSJT/WSJT-X as
you like (you must disable TX control on all except one) and HRD to give me
the frequency to drive the log. Other VSP programmes do work but I have
stuck with Eterlogic's VPSE.

Dear OMs,
IC-705 drives me mad . . .
I try to put? IC-705 + WSJT-X in service for EME.
I use ICOM RS-BA1 as remote tool.
IC-705 on Wifi; Laptop Win10 on same Wifi; WSJT-X on that Laptop.
All installations (firmware, Apps...) as of ICOM documents.
I can't make IC- 705, RS-BA1, Spectrum Scope +? WSJT-X to work together.
Single components (IC-705 + RS-BA1 + Spectrum Scope or IC-705 + WSJT-X) do
very well.
I may have an issue with additional virtual com ports . . . ?
Did someone operate such a system and has configuration advice for an OM ?
